I tried Philips’ new Airfryer 3000 Dual Basket and it was a game-changer for quick and easy meals

In November 2022, Therryi weighed 21st but by the time they finished filming in July 2023, she weighed 17st, having lost 23kg in less than a year. This came after changing her lifestyle, exercising, eating healthier and meal planning as she labelled the show the “biggest life-changing experience she could have been offered”. Just three months after the series wrapped, Therryi found out she was pregnant, despite not thinking she’d ever be able to. “Being overweight, I’ve always been told you’re high risk, you might not get pregnant, there’s always been a taboo attached to my weight and pregnancy, so I never really thought I’d be able to have a baby”, Therryi exclusively tells OK! After her weight battle, she told us: “I don’t think that my child ever needs to know what McDonald’s is. “I’m the type of person to say ‘Let’s make a Happy Meal’, are you crazy, let’s have fun.” She went on to candidly say: “I don’t want my son to be fat, I don’t wish that on nobody.”

She continued: “Everyone just thinks you overeat, but it’s not just that, people don’t think about the traumatic experiences children go through. Now, they go through a lot more trauma from when I was a little fat kid. “My mum always taught us how to cook, we were always healthy and I was always big. But when my mum and my father divorced when I was nine years old, and my mum was no longer cooking, it was easier for us to call the kebab or Chinese shop.” After her parent’s divorce, Therryi shared that was when her weight became an “actual problem” as she reflected back. “I would go to school, I would get money from my parents and I would go to the chicken and chip shop, I’d buy everyone else something because I’ve seen that they’re not eating at home as well, I’ve always been like that.

Therryi used to weigh 135kg and struggled with her weight since she was a child

“I come from that type of family that you’re going to help people.” Therryi opened up further about her own childhood: “I’ve always been active, I was the fat girl doing gymnastics, horse riding. But even in horse riding, I remember I had people laughing at me doing it, but I’m an incredible horse rider. “They’d laugh at me doing football, but I was one of the best female goalkeepers of my age. But then when I’m going through home issues, trauma and struggles I wouldn’t go home, instead, I’d go to the shop and get Time Outs, Twirls and those three for £1 sweets. “Or I went to the fish and chip shop and got a battered sausage. But I wouldn’t just get one, I’d get two, eat one in the shop and take another home to have it for later. It was enticing and dangerous.”

‘Weight has a lot over your mental space,’ Therryi said

She added: “When you live on the heavier side of the scale, it’s easy for people to target you – weight has a lot over your mental space. “You can feel fat-shamed just from someone laughing on the bus because you know it’s about you and you are treated like a second-class citizen, but I refuse to be less of who I am.” After her impressive weight loss, Therryi is excited about becoming a mother and is focusing on her newfound lifestyle: “I didn’t just change my aesthetic, I changed my lifestyle and I’m not hiding myself anymore.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
