The scarf-coat hybrid is everywhere at the moment from M&S to H&M and River Island’s stunning iteration is a dream for those who want to stay toasty while looking stylish in the colder weather – you can bet it’s on my payday wishlist. Costing £149 the premium wool blend scarf coat comes in two shades – beige and khaki – and falls just below the knees. Made from a mix of acrylic, nylon, polyester and over 50% wool, the coat is guaranteed to keep you warm from your neck to your shins and will last for years thanks to its high quality. The design is beautiful and oozes simplicity with a mono-tonal wash. Featuring two tortoiseshell buttons to fasten, the neckline of the coat merges into the scarf for a seamless finish. On either side, the coat has a pocket in which to store small essentials. In line with the pocket opening is a thick seam that splits the coat into two panels, giving it added dimension. Sharing the coat on its social media channel, River island captioned a video in which style influencer Stacie Elsmore, a former stylist and company personal shopping expert, modelled the coat and said: “POV: You’ve just unpacked your new autumn obsessions.” Unsurprisingly, fashion lovers flooded the comments section to share their love for the outfits, including this coat. One said: “Love the coat with scarf xx Love them all really.” Another hailed: “Wow, absolutely amazing collection, smashing it as always.” A third stated simply: “Oh wow,” while a fourth added: “OMG take my money.” While there are no reviews online, the only slight niggle with this coat is that it only has a few fastening buttons, so keep that in mind when styling it to ensure you remain cosy.
