Privacy NoticeOver the years, Ibiza has become known for its super-clubs, hedonistic parties and general 24/7 atmosphere, attracting millions of fun-lovers annually. But while the infamous island, which plays host to this season’s closing parties later this month, is popular among those searching for neon lights and music, the Spanish hotspot is so much more than a clubbers’ paradise. More recently it’s become the Balearic go-to for luxury, holistic wellness and authentic cuisine. Indeed, with its stunning sun rises, white beaches and UNESCO World Heritage status, Ibiza is ideal for anyone craving some much needed downtime. Given their busy schedules, it’s no surprise that so many celebrities have got in on the chilled action, over the summer. OK!’s Rowan Erlam joined them and reveals why everyone should put Ibiza on their 2023 holiday wish list…

It’s loved by reality stars Let us introduce you to Atzaró Agroturismo Hotel, a breathtaking hotel in a vast estate of orange groves on the northeast of The White Isle. Built on the site of a 300-year-old finca, it opened in 2004, but it has more recently undergone a refurbishment to take it back to its rural roots. Rooms are understated but stylish, with whitewashed walls, beamed ceilings, four-poster beds and local fabrics. Despite the focus on nature, there’s still a distinct air of Ibiza glamour. And with its “love” sign, the 43-metre freshwater swimming pool has played host to many British reality stars including Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott, Kady McDermott, who were spotted there this year. Scantily clad A-listers like Rihanna, Penélope Cruz, Sienna Miller, Florence Pugh, Kate Hudson and Luke Evans have all been guests too.

With 13 hectares of land, but only 24 rooms, you’re able to enjoy peace and privacy – and never need to worry about scrabbling for one of the cabanas or daybeds. It’s perfect for farm-to-fork food Open for breakfast, lunch or dinner, La Veranda is the perfect spot to get a flavour of delicious farm-to-fork food. Set in the old farmhouse, with a charming terrace under a pergola of vines, the restaurant offers a menu of healthy and seasonal dishes. Many ingredients come from the hotel’s own organic vegetable garden. This year, James Adams – the creative force behind British restaurants Heckfield Place, The River Cafe and Petersham Nurseries – has collaborated with La Veranda to relaunch its menu.

We tucked into the refreshing seabass citrus ceviche with coriander to start (21 euros), followed by grilled salmon with pickled lemon, asparagus and hazelnut salad (27 euros). Atzaró’s sister restaurant, Aubergine by Atzaró, is also a hit with foodies, offering a similar range of unpretentious homemade dishes in a picture-perfect countryside setting. You can go there to unwind… Have you even been to Ibiza unless you’ve spent an afternoon sipping rosé while listening to Balearic beats at a beach club? Atzaró Agroturismo Hotel has its own offering on Cala Nova, a beautiful stretch of beach just 15 minutes drive from the hotel.

After unwinding on one of Atzaró Agroturismo Hotel Beach’s luxury daybeds overlooking the glistening Mediterranean, we wandered over to the chic, laid-back restaurant (think natural wood and hanging rattan lighting) where we indulged in a delicious paella – ticking off another Ibiza must. …Or catch a film under the stars Atzaró Agroturismo Hotel has launched an open-air cinema in the hotel’s vegetable garden, so guests can relax on luxury beanbags and watch their favourite movies under the stars. With a vintage popcorn stand, bamboo bar and palm trees adorned with pontoon lighting, this is a truly magical setting if you want to kick back and enjoy a cinema classic. You’ll come back refreshed Atzaró Agroturismo Hotel’s open-air spa is set among fragrant gardens and orange trees and offers massages, saunas, a gym, yoga pavilions, beauty treatments and a hammam.

We almost drifted off to sleep as we enjoyed a signature Atzaró Integration massage (120 euros for 50 minutes) in one of the Balinese-style treatment rooms. We loved the in-house products, created from botanicals grown in the hotel’s spa garden. They left us feeling (and smelling) incredible. Daily yoga and wellness classes are available to guests in the yoga studio, so you’re destined to leave feeling more Zen than when you arrived. How to book Visit atzaro.com to book. Prices start at 230 euros for a double room, including breakfast. For Atzaró Beach restaurant and beach club, go to atzarobeach.com.
