Respected news portal Infobae has reported that tests conducted after his death last Wednesday revealed the presence of the class-A drug in materials extracted from his body. However, police tests on a white powder discovered in his hotel room have so far been “inconclusive”. The results of a second test using chromatography, a powerful analytical separation technique, are still pending. Liam’s father Geoff is currently in Argentina to expedite the repatriation of his son’s body, but he has been informed that he will not be able to return it to the UK until the cause of the 31 year old’s death is confirmed “scientifically.” No specific timeline has been provided, but he has been warned that the wait could extend up to two weeks.

Buenos Aires police have yet to officially comment on the Infobae reports and it remains unclear if they will do so. Prosecutor Marcelo Roma, who has categorised Liam’s death at the Hotel CasaSur Palermo Hotel as “inconclusive” following his fall from a third-floor balcony, has received all the results to date, reports the Mirror. The One Direction star tragically died aged 31 last Wednesday in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It has been revealed that Liam’s body is likely to remain in Argentina for approximately 10 to 15 days, until the toxicological test results are available. Once the investigation concludes, the singer’s remains will be returned to his family and flown back to England, as per local media reports. A source shared: “Liam’s loved ones just want him home, back where he belongs among his family. As they await the pathologist to finish their tests, behind the scenes, they have been tackling the logistics about how best to get his body back to the UK. There are no direct commercial flights between Buenos Aires and London, but naturally, they want the flight to have the least stops and interruptions possible. But Geoff is determined to accompany his son home.”
