The funeral of Liam Payne is expected to take place next month in the UK (Image: WireImage)The funeral of One Direction star Liam Payne is set to take place next month, as investigations into his tragic death continue. The 31 year old singer, who was a doting dad to son Bear, seven, tragically died after falling three floors from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Heartbroken fans have been paying tribute to the Strip That Down hitmaker at impromptu vigils and memorials. Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office are not seeking anyone else in connection with his death, believing he may have fallen while in a state of “semi or total unconsciousness” after drugs and alcohol were discovered in his room.

His parents, Karen and Geoff, flew to Argentina to formally identify their son’s body and arrange for his return to the UK. Reports suggest that Liam had multiple drugs in his system at the time of his fall. Prosecutors also suggested that the singer could have experienced a substance abuse-induced breakdown around the time of his fall, as he was reportedly acting aggressively in the hotel reception just minutes before his death. The initial findings from the autopsy indicate that he succumbed to “multiple traumas” leading to “internal and external bleeding” with the Public Prosecutor’s Office noting that the injuries from the fall were unsurvivable. “The head injuries were sufficient to cause death, while the internal and external haemorrhages in the skull, chest, abdomen and limbs contributed to the mechanism of death,” the statement detailed. The comprehensive autopsy report is expected to be published soon. Liam’s passing is currently classified as “inconclusive” while the probe into his demise is ongoing, reports the Mirror. Authorities have been seeking two women who were spotted with the musician on the day he died and have obtained their statements. They’re also questioning hotel employees and attempting to identify the individual who provided Liam with the substances.

Nonetheless, an inquest back in Britain may await his grieving family. Once that’s done, Liam’s remains will be returned to his family for repatriation to England, suggesting his funeral could take place in early November. The British Embassy is providing support to Liam’s bereaved family as they organise the arrangements, and it’s anticipated that the funeral will be held in the singer’s hometown of Wolverhampton. It’s still unclear whether there will be an official memorial for fans to honour Liam, as the funeral is set to be a private event, attended by the singer’s immediate family and close friends.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
