The 31 year old singer’s funeral is now expected to take place next month. An update has been provided on the late star’s autopsy, with his father Geoff flying out to Argentina to identify his son’s body and organise his return to the UK. The wait for Liam’s body could be between 10 to 15 days as toxicology tests are awaited, according to local sources and The Mirror.

Clarín, a prominent Argentinian newspaper, cited British Embassy officials, sharing: “We are supporting Liam Payne’s family and are in contact with local authorities.” These updates follow the preliminary autopsy results which point to “multiple traumas” along with “internal and external bleeding” from the tragic fall being the cause of death. Further investigations including toxicological and anatomical-pathological studies of his blood and urine are underway to check for any possible drug use. Additionally, authorities may look into the artist’s medical background to assess his mental health history. On a heartwrenching note, after flying out to Argentina, Liam’s father paid his respects at the site where his son so tragically died. Watching fan tributes, he expressed gratitude for their support.

The devastated family shared: “We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.” Meanwhile, One Direction showed unity in grief, releasing an emotional collective statement on Thursday evening. Signed by “Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry”, they wrote: “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.” They continued with poignant remembrance: “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly.
