Liam Payne’s cause of death has been ‘revealed’Former One Direction star Liam Payne ‘died instantly’ from injuries that included a skull fracture following a fall from a third floor hotel balcony at the Hotel Casa Sur in Palermo, it has been reported. Buenos Aires emergency services chief Alberto Crescenti spoke to The Sun, stating: “Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life. Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death.” He stressed that an autopsy would be carried out to confirm the cause of Liam’s death.

Liam had been staying at the hotel in Palermo, Buenos Aires since Thursday 10 October. Following his death on Wednesday, details of an emergency call made by hotel staff was released in which the receptionist told the 911 operator that a guest was “destroying everything in his room. We need someone to come.” After the first call was cut off, the receptionist rang again, saying: “I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger. The room has a balcony and we are afraid he might do something.” Spokesman Alberto Crescenti filled in what happened next. “At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel. At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation.” The Foreign Office (FCDO) has since acknowledged it is liaising with Argentine authorities concerning “regarding reports of the death of a British man”. Tributes have been pouring in for Liam since news of his tragic death was first reported. Dermot O’Leary, who first met Liam when the young star auditioned for The X Factor, said that he was “always a joy,” while Paris Hilton wrote on X: “So upsetting to hear the news of @LiamPayne passing. Sending love and condolences to his family & loved ones. RIP my friend.” JLS star Marvin Humes posted a tribute to Liam on Instagram, saying: “I first met Liam in 2008 with the JLS boys whilst auditioning for X Factor.. e was 14 years old.. we instantly clicked and looked at him as a little brother..that year it worked out for us but not for him and then 2 years later he went back to audition and One Direction was born.. the rest is history.. “Absolutely heartbroken by the tragic news.. Liam you wanted to be a global superstar and you did it bro.. just can’t believe that things have ended this way.. it’s shocking.. my thoughts and prayers are with all your family and friends brother..
