The world was left in shock after the 31 year old singer’s passing was confirmed in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Emerging details now suggest he had requested a “cuddle” from a fan. A fan at the hotel shared that she engaged in a half-hour chat with the ex-boyband star, capturing images of him at 4.26pm local time – which is 8.26pm UK time. These photos were snapped less than an hour before the news of Liam’s death broke, with emergency services arriving at the scene by 5.11pm.

Talking to Mail Online, a woman referred to as Rebecca (a pseudonym) recounted how her friend was due to take over Liam’s suite but, however, it was still occupied by the singer. She described hotel staff as being “a little on edge” with the situation and Liam’s behaviour. Rebecca recalled how he appeared eager for recognition, saying: “When the lift came he suddenly said to us without any prompting: ‘Yes, I’m Liam! ‘ really drawing it out, and then said ‘All right come on you lot, get in the elevator with me, I love a cuddle’.” Choosing to pass on his offer, Rebecca waited for the next elevator while some other girls joined him in the lift, discussing their American origins with the star. She alleged that Liam had grabbed a girl, who she assumed was with him, and mimicked a light choking gesture. “The others thought it was really disturbing,” she remarked.

She continued, explaining that she returned to the lobby about 10 minutes later, with Liam following shortly after. She observed him sitting on a couch, checking his emails. “Then he opened his emails and saw one which obviously upset him,” she noted. “Suddenly he took the computer, shouted ‘f*** this s*** mate!’ and started bashing the computer on the ground.” His outburst reportedly left staff and guests at the hotel stunned. Rebecca recounted approaching him to check if he was okay, to which he responded: “I used to be in a boyband. That’s why I’m so f****d up.'”. In a statement released to The Associated Press, police confirmed that Liam “jumped from the balcony of his room,” seemingly dispelling any notions of an accidental fall or foul play. An initial autopsy suggested he died from “multiple traumas” resulting in “internal and external bleeding” due to the fall. On Thursday evening, his former One Direction bandmates shared an emotional tribute to their “brother”. In their message, they expressed their heartbreak, stating: “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.” The tribute was signed off by “Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry”. “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK! MagazineFacebookTwitterCommentMore OnLiam PayneOne Direction
