Privacy NoticeLarry Lamb, who stars as Mick Shipman in the beloved BBC sitcom Gavin and Stacey, has hinted that the upcoming Christmas special might not be the end of the show. The much-loved series is set to return on Christmas Day this year, for what’s been billed as its final episode. However, Larry believes that show creators James Corden and Ruth Jones may struggle to say goodbye to the popular programme, comparing them to veteran rockers who can’t stop touring. “It’s like those old rock ‘n rollers who go round the world on their ‘last tour’. What are you going to do, kill it? What’s the point? They’re too canny, those two. We could be rocking this thing out when I’m about 104,” he said.

Despite his speculation about a possible future comeback, Larry shared on Good Morning Britain how emotional it was to film the last episode. “It was a trip down memory lane. Because suddenly there we are, and we’re facing the fact that effectively this is the end of this adventure – it’s the end of this journey and it was so emotional,” he revealed. He also gave some behind-the-scenes details of filming. “On the last day of filming, we were filming the end of the story which is so unusual because nine times out of ten you find that you’re doing the end on the first day and you’re doing the beginning right at the end of it all,” he added, reports the Daily Star. “So what we were filming was the end of the story on the very last day and there was just this mental tick, tick, tick going on all the time and the emotions just kept building and building and building … [the ending] is just beautiful.” It comes after the BBC shared an emotional post of a clapperboard from the upcoming Gavin and Stacey: The Finale’ in which it told fans that it was the “last time” the cast would be filming the show. “And that’s a wrap… for the last time ever. See you on Christmas Day!,” the heartfelt post read.
