Privacy Notice Prince Andrew is reportedly gearing up to spend the summer with his closest family at Balmoral. It is believed King Charles’s brother will retreat to the Scottish estate with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, their daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, along with his grandchildren for a much-needed family gathering. A source disclosed that after becoming quite the homebody at Royal Lodge in Windsor since last year, Andrew is excited about the getaway. “Andrew has hardly left Royal Lodge since Christmas so he’s very much looking forward to getting away with the rest of the family at Balmoral,” the source claimed. They also mentioned how Andrew’s hibernation has concerned his daughters, who believe that Balmoral’s family vibes could perk him up: “He’s turned into a bit of a recluse, so the girls are hoping that some nice family time with the children will help cheer him up a bit and bring him out of his shell.” The Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children will also be travelling to the annual Royal retreat. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be there. A source said that King Charles, 75, and Kate Middleton, 42, are hoping for some undisturbed familial bliss after a year peppered with challenges: “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be joining the rest of the Royal Family,” reports the Express. “The King is keen for it to be a happy family occasion which will see members of the family come together for just over a week to discuss plans for the future and to unwind.” Sign up to OK’s royal newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

It’s also reported that the titles of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to be a hot topic at Balmoral when the Royal Family convenes for pre-scheduled meetings next week. According to an insider, one key point on the agenda of what’s being called a “Royal Family summit” will be the role of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the family over the coming decade. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are currently undertaking a quasi-royal tour of Colombia, were given their titles by the late Queen Elizabeth II on the day they married on May 19, 2018. Other members of the Royal Family due at Balmoral this year include Princess Anne and her husband Timothy Laurence. Queen Camilla’s family, including her children and grandchildren, will also attend. They’ll be staying in the main castle, typically used for entertaining guests.

Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, will also be there, along with the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s children Lady Louise Windsor, 19, and James, Earl of Wessex, 16. Other family members expected to join include Mike and Zara Tindall and their three children, daughters Mia, 10, and Lena, 6, and son Lucas, 3. However, they might leave early as Zara has entered the Wellington International Horse Trials on the last weekend in August. Peter Phillips and his ex-wife, Autumn Kelly, are also expected with their daughters Savannah, 13, and Isla, 12. While extended family members and guests stay in the castle, senior Royal Family members will stay in separate, more private cottages on the estate. King Charles and Queen Camilla will reside at Birkhall, while Prince William, Princess Catherine and their three children will stay at a cottage known as Tam-Na-Ghar, a gift from William’s late great-grandmother, the Queen Mother.
