Privacy NoticeKing Charles, it seems, favours a not-so-average bite for his midday munch. A Royal insider has dished to The Mail On Sunday about the Monarch’s dietary habits amid his cancer recovery, revealing that an unlikely superfood has become a staple in his day. “With some reluctance, he now has something to eat at lunchtime – a snack, really,” the source claimed. “He now eats half an avocado to sustain him through the day. It’s important, particularly if you have got an illness.” Until recently, His Majesty had apparently always skipped lunch in the midst of his jam-packed schedule of regal duties. But he’s since been encouraged by to indulge in a little more sustenance to help maintain his strength.

Avocados certainly aren’t a bad choice for this either. Touted as ‘superfoods’, these creamy fruits boast a wealth of nutritional benefits, including magnesium, potassium and omega-3 fatty acids, which can do wonders from bolstering heart health to reducing diabetes risks and reportedly even combating cancer. Experts at Health explain: “Extracts of avocado pulp or the fruit have been found to have cancer fighting properties. An extract containing several antioxidants, including lutein, zeaxanthin, beta carotene, and vitamin E, stopped the growth of prostate cancer cells. Another extract killed oral cancer cells.”

King Charles has been battling a private health scare, recently undergoing intensive treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery for an undisclosed form of cancer. The Palace has shared a positive outlook on his recovery, with the King slowly making strides back into public life, reports Gloucestershire Live. Aside from eating superfoods, His Majesty has also refrained from eating too much meat, fish and dairy produce. In 2021, he appeared on BBC’s Big Interviews to discuss this and what the public can do to lower their carbon footprint. According to The Express, he said: “For years I haven’t eaten meat and fish on two days a week and I don’t eat dairy products on one day a week. Now I mean that’s one way to do it – if more did that you would reduce a lot of the pressure on the environment and everything else. “Because you see the thing about meat is very important – where does it come from, how is it grown? So if it’s grass-based and from the right breeds, you know if it is better quality but eaten less often – that approach to farming is less damaging than the industrialised approach with intensive everything, and causing huge pressures and damage.” What do you think?
