Privacy NoticeKing Charles has reportedly taken drastic action in his latest attempt to get Prince Andrew to agree to leave Royal Lodge. The monarch has allegedly been caught up in a spat with his younger brother over his living arrangements. King Charles, 75, has now fired Andrew’s private security team, according to reports, in a bid to force him out of his £30m mansion. Andrew, 64, was stripped of his official security team in 2022 after he was named in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, with his Royal duties also being relieved by the late Queen at the same time. Following this, King Charles has funded a private legion to protect Andrew’s home. However, it’s now been claimed that the 10-man security team have been dismissed and told they were “no longer needed” from autumn onwards.

A palace insider told The Sun on Sunday: “Everyone is speculating this means the Duke will have to leave the Royal Lodge because what other reason could there be to take his security away? “They are all working the final weeks of their contract till the end of October. It’s not thought anyone is being lined up to replace them. It isn’t a secret that the King wants him out.” OK! has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment. Prince Andrew reportedly refused to move out of Royal Lodge when the King asked him. It is claimed that the King has been urging Andrew to relocate from the property to the significantly smaller Frogmore Cottage, previously occupied by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Andrew lives in the 30-bedroom mansion with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. He has found maintaining the grade II-listed property challenging, as per the 75-year lease agreement granted to him in 2003 by the Crown Estate, which requires him to “repair, renew, uphold, clean and keep in repair and, where necessary, rebuild” the mansion.

Charles reportedly issued a stern warning that he will cut off Prince Andrew’s annual funding of over £4 million if he fails to maintain the property adequately. An insider told Woman’s Day magazine that two other royals have offered to take care of the building. The anonymous source revealed: “Sophie and Edward are serious contenders to take this project on and do an excellent job. They’ve completely thrown a spanner into an already difficult situation, which is why Charles has had to come clean on his somewhat unpopular plan to house Camilla.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
