As Zara McDermott is reported to be dating One Direction star Louis Tomlinson after her split from partner Sam Thompson, Kerry Katona has given her opinion on the new romance with a cheeky remark – jesting that the best way to get over someone is to get under someone new. The former Atomic Kitten star, 44, also claimed that Sam is ‘cursed’ after winning I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here in 2023 – pointing out how several former winners have now split from their other halves, including herself after being crowned Queen Of The Jungle in 2004. Here, in Kerry’s weekly column, the mum-of-five also gives her verdict on popular new Netflix show Adolescence and updates us on her time away in Thailand.

A NEW DIRECTION I’ve read that Zara McDermott is reportedly dating Louis Tomlinson and I think if she’s happy then fair enough – they do say the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else! It was always tough for Sam Thompson and Zara because their relationship was so public – people are very invested. I think there’s some sort of I’m A Celebrity winners’ curse – Sam won the show in 2023 and is now single, Jacqueline Jossa won in 2019 and has just split up with Dan Osborne, I won in 2004 and Brian McFadden and I separated soon afterwards and Danny Jones won before his Maura Higgins kissing drama.

A TOUGH GIG Louise Redknapp has spoken out about not feeling good enough and losing her confidence when she was in Eternal and I completely understand where she’s coming from. It’s so difficult in this industry, especially when you’re catapulted to fame in a band like we both were – people start calling you a role model and you’re thinking to yourself, “I’m not a role model! I don’t know what I’m doing.” I’m 44 and I’m still learning about myself, even now. This industry can be a challenge because everyone’s expecting something from you. I sympathise with Louise because I know how it feels. You have to put yourself first and learn not to people please. That’s something I’ve been working on. THAI TIME By the time you read this, I’ll have returned home from Thailand, but I’ve had the best time out here. I’ve gone through a real spiritual awakening and have learnt so much about myself. It’s made me realise that splitting up with Ryan was the best thing to happen to me. I’m over that chapter of my life and when I think about him there is nothing romantic there any more. I’m now working on creating my own relaxation package here at the The Beach Samui hotel, where people will be able to book a week-long holiday, curated by me, with experiences such as sound baths and yoga sessions. The hotel is opening up a new retreat and my plan is to regularly come over and work on the collaboration. My dream, when the kids are older, is to live out here full-time.

MEET THE PARENTS I want to send huge congratulations to Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright on the birth of their baby daughter, Palma – they must be so happy. I think Palma is a really sweet name. I don’t know Michelle or Mark well, but they seem like a really nice couple. I’m wishing them all the best for this new chapter in their lives. As my children get older, they become my best friends more and more – it’s amazing. My son Max is like my wingman at the moment and is always spotting potential men for me when we’re out. We have such a giggle together. Parenthood is truly beautiful and Michelle and Mark will love it.

GOLDEN GRAHAM I decided to binge watch Adolescence during a stormy day here in Thailand and I loved it. I think Stephen Graham is a fantastic actor. I’ve met him a few times and he’s always been lovely and so genuine. He’s a proper Liverpool lad. Owen Cooper, who plays Stephen’s son in the drama, is an amazing actor too and it’s so impressive that this is his first role.
