Privacy NoticeLike many of us, it appears that the Princess of Wales also enjoys a bit of retail therapy from time to time. However, during one shopping trip, Kate accidentally revealed a secret alias she occasionally uses. This incident occurred shortly after her wedding to Prince William in 2011, during the early days of their marriage when they resided in Wales where William was stationed as a search and rescue pilot at RAF Valley. The royal couple lived in a rented farmhouse near the seaside town of Rhosneigr in Anglesey, as neither of them were full-time working royals at the time.

Kate was often spotted doing the grocery shopping at the local Waitrose supermarket and browsing other shops, including a watersports store close to their former residence. However, during one visit to the shop, known as Funsport, Kate experienced an embarrassing yet relatable mishap – she had to give the shopkeeper a secret name. This happened when she attempted to purchase a wetsuit but realised she had left her purse behind and couldn’t pay. Unaware shopkeeper Dave Buckland then asked Kate for her name when she enquired if she could reserve the wetsuit to pick up later when she had money with her, reports the Mirror. And the cheeky moniker she chose was “Mrs Cambridge” a playful reference to her previous title as the Duchess of Cambridge and as reported by the Mail on Sunday, the unsuspecting shopkeeper was none the wiser. A source told the publication in 2012: “He was looking straight at her and actually commented that it was quite an unusual surname. He hadn’t a clue who she was. She just smiled and said she’d be back. He hasn’t lived it down since.”

In 2018, Kate was seen guiding her little ones through the aisles of Peter Jones department store in London, on a mission to find them some smart new shoes for school. However, things didn’t go entirely to plan and she made a mistake many parents can relate to. An insider revealed to Hello! magazine that Kate had forgotten to bring socks for George and Charlotte to try on with their school shoes. Caught out by the summer weather, the kids were sporting sandals during their shopping trip. In true mum fashion, Kate had to ask the store to lend them socks so she could ensure the shoes fit perfectly. Before joining Lambrook, both George and Charlotte were students at Thomas’s School in Battersea, while Prince Louis attended Wilcocks Nursery School in South Kensington. Their present school, Lambrook, caters to boys and girls aged three to 13 years as a day and boarding school. For the time being, the Wales children are day pupils.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
