Kate has gone from being a fresh-faced university student alongside boyfriend Prince William to the future King and Queen, with the world watching their every move. Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton in October 2010 and an April 2011 royal wedding was followed by the birth of heir Prince George in 2013, Princess Charlotte in 2015 and Prince Louis in 2018. The princess is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer. In her statement sharing the news, the Princess of Wales reassured royal fans that she is getting stronger by the day and given her commitment to an active lifestyle, it seems Kate is likely to be coping well with her treatment.

Now after over a decade in the Royal Family, Kate has become one of the most visible and best-loved working royals – and an essential representative of the monarchy’s future. The royal has always been unafraid to be playful in the public eye, whether it’s while playing games with her children or playing with a rugby ball on a field. Afua Hagan commented on Kate’s adaptable persona in the documentary. She said: “She is clearly the type of person that understands tradition and modernity can go hand in hand. She’s very likeable. She’s very charming. She’s also very sporty.”

Reflecting on a memorable engagement in Cambridgeshire in 2022 when the princess attempted to kick a football into a goal while wearing towering wedge heels, Afua added: “She isn’t afraid to get stuck in. She doesn’t mind if she looks a bit silly. She doesn’t mind if perhaps she doesn’t do things perfectly. “I think she feels that sport has a big role to play in everybody’s lives, in keeping everybody mentally active and physically active, too.” Afua also pointed out how the princess’s persona of warmness and kindess has resonated with children across the globe.

She added: “What really, really struck me, is how much time [she] especially took when she was talking to the kids. That’s a very special quality to have to be able to get down to kids level, have a chat with them, connect and bond with them.” W‌hile royal editor Robert Jobson commented: “If she’s not the heartbeat of the family, I don’t know who is.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
