Privacy NoticeKate, the Princess of Wales, is set to grace the men’s singles final at Wimbledon on Sunday, as confirmed by Kensington Palace. Officials from the Wimbledon tennis tournament have been saying that they were ‘hopeful’ Kate, who is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer, would be able to return to present trophies after Sunday’s final. As Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Kate Middleton will now attend the Gentlemen’s Singles Final of The Championships. It comes days after Wimbledon said they were working on ‘backup plans’ in case the Princess was unable to attend. Royal enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating her presence at the 2024 tournament, which started last week. Kate has maintained a low profile since revealing her cancer diagnosis in March.

However, much to the public’s joy, Kate recently made a brief return to the public spotlight with her family for Trooping the Colour in June, and there has been speculation she may attend the Wimbledon finals. In a statement released last month, Kate revealed she she was making good progress but was “not out of the woods yet” and had “good days and bad days” as she continued her treatment. William is expected to fly to Germany on Sunday to watch England’s football team play Spain in Berlin at the European Championships 2024 final. He was previously seen in Dusseldorf for England’s quarter final match against Switzerland on Saturday 6 July.

Kate, 42, has been patron of the All England Club since 2016, and has presented trophies to the Wimbledon champions in the past. She is known to be a tennis lover and even amateur player. Speaking to Telegraph Sport, All England Club chair Debbie Jevans previously revealed: “We’re hopeful that the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as the Club’s patron, but her health and recovery is the priority. “We don’t know what we don’t know. All we’ve said is that we’ll work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible.”

Just last week, the mother and father of the Princess of Wales, Carole and Michael Middleton, were pictured arriving to the fourth day of Wimbledon Tennis Championships. It wasn’t the Middletons’ first recent high-profile outing. Last month, they attended Royal Ascot and joined members of the Royal Family, including son-in-law, Prince William. It was their first appearance at a major event since it was announced in March that Kate had began a bout of chemotherapy, following abdominal surgery in January.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
