Privacy Notice The Princess of Wales might be about to shake things up and make a historic decision for her eldest son, Prince George. Now that the future king is 11 years old, speculation is rife about which school he’ll attend during his teenage years. At present, he’s studying at the co-ed Lambrook School near the family home in Windsor, alongside his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. However, it’s still a mystery where he’ll head next, as Lambrook only caters to students up to the age of 13. Many are guessing he’ll follow in the footsteps of his dad, Prince William, and uncle, Prince Harry, by attending Eton College. In fact, the Prince and Princess of Wales were spotted touring the campus with their eldest son back in June 2023.

But there’s another contender in the mix for George’s education – Marlborough College, which happens to be Kate’s old school. The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden reported that the princess was seen visiting her former school, sparking rumours that it could be on the cards for George. If George does end up at Marlborough, he would make history as the first future King to complete his compulsory education at entirely co-ed institutions, since Marlborough accepts both girls and boys. It’s worth noting that it’s only recently that royals have attended formal schools – the late Queen, for example, was educated at home, as were other monarchs before her.

King Charles did indeed go to school, first at the all-boys Hill House School, then Cheam School – which was also an all-boys establishment at the time – and finally Gordonstoun, another all-boys institution. Prince William initially attended Wetherby School before moving on to Ludgrove School and Eton College, both of which are all-boys schools. As for George, he has so far been educated at Thomas’s Battersea, a mixed-gender school, as well as his current co-ed school, Lambrook. At present, George and his siblings are making the most of the final days of their half-term break, with classes set to resume on Monday. It remains unclear what the Wales family have been doing during this holiday period – but it’s possible that future King George has been using this time to hit the books. It’s believed he has exams coming up in just a few weeks, with mum Kate even skipping husband William’s Earthshot Prize Awards to support her son. Kate has been a fixture at every awards ceremony since they started two years ago, but The Mirror has revealed that she won’t be accompanying her husband to Singapore for the 2023 event in November. Kensington Palace confirmed her non-attendance, with a Royal source shedding light on why she will be staying at home. A senior source confirmed the reports, revealing: “The Princess will not be attending. Prince George has exams that week and the Princess wants to be at home to support him.” Meanwhile, Kensington Palace has kept mum about which exams future king George will face. It’s speculated that these could include the preliminary entrance tests for Eton College, often referred to as ISEBs, which coincide with the Earthshot Prize timing in early November. Notably, these assessments are part of the admissions process for other prestigious private schools such as Marlborough College too.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
