Privacy NoticeThe Princess of Wales made her second official public outing on Sunday, 14 July when she attended the Wimbledon’s men’s final, in which she presented Carlos Alcaraz with the trophy after he won against Novak Djokovic in what was a dramatic match. Sporting a stunning purple Safiyaa dress, Kate attended the thrilling final match with her daughter Princess Charlotte and sister Pippa Matthews. Their entrance onto Centre Court and into the Royal box spurred cheers and applause from attendees. There was a moment during the clash where Kate, 42, seemed to whisper something to Charlotte, with a big smile on her face. According to the Mirror’s lip reading expert Nicola Hickling, the Princess of Wales reportedly revealed who she hoped would win. “It’s happening at the end – Djokovic is my favourite to win,” she said, Nicola claimed.

However, Novak Djokovic, who is often considered among the greatest tennis players, lost to 21 year old Carlos Alcaraz in the surprising final match. Despite her predicitions, Kate extended heartfelt condolences to runner-up Djokovic before presenting the trophy to Alcaraz. Before their grand entrance, Kate and Charlotte were warmly received by British tennis champs Emma Raducanu, Sonay Kartal, Lily Miyazaki, Lucy Shuker and Flora Johnson on the players’ lawn at Wimbledon. In a sweet exchange, wheelchair tennis star Shuker got a “pinky promise” from young Charlotte, who vowed to try out the sport alongside her mum, reports the Mirror.

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, had a lovely chat with tennis star Emma Raducanu at Wimbledon, telling her: “It was so hard to see you go out.” The US Open champ said it was “amazing” to have Kate’s support and to “see her here looking so healthy and happy”. Kate made her first public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March at the Trooping the Colour ceremony in London last month. She did not attend the women’s singles final on Saturday, and Wimbledon chairwoman Debbie Jevans presented the trophy to Barbora Krejcikova on her behalf. During their meeting on Sunday, Krejcikova gifted the Princess of Wales the racket she used during her victory.

Last year, Kate visited the championships several times and presented Alcaraz with his first Wimbledon trophy after watching him battle Djokovic in the men’s singles final. On Friday, Kate missed a charity polo match as husband William took to the field to raise funds for good causes at Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park. In a statement released last month, the princess revealed she is making good progress but “not out of the woods yet” and has “good days and bad days” as she continues her treatment.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
