Privacy NoticeThe Princess of Wales was reportedly asked to alter the spelling of her name due to a clash with King Charles and Queen Camilla. In her role, the princess is one of the most globally recognisable women and is widely known by her nickname Kate. However, her real name is Catherine, which is how nearly all members of the Royal Family, including her husband Prince William, refer to her. But it seems her real name once appeared to cause a clash with her father-in-law King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla – and according to Prince Harry, there was even a suggestion by the pair that she should change her moniker’s spelling. In his bombshell memoir Spare, Prince Harry disclosed that the King and Queen had expressed a preference for Kate to spell her real name, Catherine, with a ‘K’ rather than a ‘C’. The reason being, there were already two Royal cyphers featuring the letter ‘C’, and they didn’t want to add another.

Kate Middleton and William’s ‘relief’ over Charles’ major health update
Harry wrote in Spare: “There were already two royal cyphers with a C and a crown above: Charles and Camilla. It would be too confusing to have another. Make it Katherine with a K, they suggested. “I wondered now what came of that suggestion.” Recalling the moment he and William learned of the proposal, Harry added: “I turned to Willy, gave him a look that said ‘You listening to this? ‘ His face was blank.” Despite the unfulfilled request, it’s said that Kate enjoys a close relationship with both Charles and Camilla, who acknowledge her potential to greatly impact the monarchy.

Following the news that King Charles is returning to public-facing official duties in the near future, a leading royal expert revealed why this will not only be a boost for him and Queen Camilla, but also for other key senior royals such as The Prince and Princess of Wales. “This news will be a great relief for William to have his father not only back in health, but also in action – relieving some of the pressure on the Prince to be out and about when he has his own young family and wife to take care of,” former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond exclusively told OK!.

Jennie adds: “As for Kate, The King’s news will come as a huge relief. Not only because she has great affection for her father-in-law, but because it relieves the pressure on her and on William. “With the King back in action, albeit not a full diary, she can feel more relaxed about a protracted absence from the public arena, and William can feel less anxious about taking time off when he needs to be with his wife and family.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
