Privacy Notice Kate Garraway has opened up to fans about her daughter Darcey moving out, just days after the pair lived it up together at the National Television Awards – to such an extent that the Good Morning Britain presenter felt moved to apologise for her eldest child’s behaviour to EastEnders and Strictly star Bobby Brazier. Sharing a video showing her loading up her car ahead of a big move to university, Kate – who lost husband Derek Draper in January this year – told her Instagram followers that it was “such an emotional moment on so many levels”. She appeared in a video loading Darcey’s things into the family’s new car – which she said would have gained Derek’s approval.

Kate explained the bittersweet moment her daughter left, saying: “And just like that she was off! That tiny helpless baby we brought home from hospital 18 yrs ago has gone to uni! Just like thousands of other parents this weekend I was playing that game of #student jenga trying to get it all in the car. “Thank goodness my beloved Victor Volvo has a massive boot! Such an emotional moment on so many levels & boy is the house quiet. But Darcey we couldn’t be prouder of you starting this new chapter in your life & know your Dad is with you all the way.” Kate added the hashtags “#happymonday”, “#seizetheday” and “#newchapter”. The star was swiftly comforted by some of her celebrity pals in the comments section. The presenter explained: “So yesterday our little baby Darcey got officially and legally big – 18!!! She had said she didn’t want a celebration as it was too soon after her dad passing, but maybe a small family lunch at home. “I knew her dad would want the day to be marked and special though so I sent up a bat signal to @myleeneklass who rallied the most amazing gang of #warriorwomen & #warriormen.”
