Privacy Notice Morning TV viewers were taken aback when Kate Garraway was swapped out for Trisha Goddard in another presenter shake-up on Good Morning Britain. The Hackney-born star, 66, joined Richard Madeley at the helm of the show on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, as they tackled the day’s top stories. This followed an incident on Monday where Kate, 57, had to deal with a home crisis while on air, with co-host Richard playfully calling her out for being distracted by her phone during a commercial break. While she didn’t spill any details about the situation, Kate has previously had to step back from her GMB duties after her dad Gordon suffered a suspected stroke and heart attack. However, this time around, Trisha’s guest spot on the show was planned.

On Thursday, August 8, during her own chat on Good Morning Britain with Kate and co-host Ed Balls, it was revealed that the former talk show host would be guest presenting the show this Tuesday and Wednesday, August 14, 2024, reports the Mirror. “I’m not normally nervous, I have to say”, she confessed, admitting that being interviewed was more nerve-wracking than hosting. “That bit I’m not nervous about, and I said before this bit I’ve been shaking like a chihuahua.”

The conversation also led her to openly discuss her terminal breast cancer diagnosis. Trisha’s stint on Good Morning Britain comes after Ed announced he’d be taking a break from the show until September, following a wave of Ofcom complaints. Ed took to Instagram this Monday, posting sweet moments including one with him holding a family-favourite pavlova and another alongside Kate Garraway. He captioned the post: “What better way to celebrate the start of summer holidays than with a pavlova – our family favourite”, and went on to say he “loved working with Kate last week during such national turbulent times.”

Ed is set to return to the screen in September, excitedly noting: “I’m back with Susanna (Reid) at the beginning of September when schools and Parliament return – see you soon.” However, not all the feedback has been positive for Ed, as he faced criticism last week with Ofcom receiving more than 8,200 complaints after an August 5 episode of GMB. The uproar was mainly due to viewers being dissatisfied with two interviews about the UKs far-right riots’ government response, where Ed’s questioning of his wife and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper sparked accusations of a conflict of interest from TV audiences.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
