Privacy NoticeKate Garraway, the host of Good Morning Britain, paused the show on Tuesday morning to share a unique achievement by one of her colleagues with ITV viewers. During a discussion about the ongoing Olympics with co-host Ed Balls, Kate was asked which sport she would participate in. Later in the show, it appeared she had found her sport after discovering something interesting about one of her colleagues. Interrupting the show, she announced: “Now breaking news this morning. Sally who is our editor of the day, refusing to come in front of the camera, has just let us know that she got a bronze in a West Midlands competition for synchronized swimming but solo!” Ed was left puzzled by Kate’s announcement, pointing out that solo synchronised swimming seemed contradictory, reports the Mirror.

The camera then switched to weather presenter Laura Tobin, who was visibly surprised to learn their editor had won a medal in such an unusual sport. Excitedly, Kate declared: “That’s my sport! That’s what I’m going to do in the over 50s.” However, Ed was still confused about how it could be synchronised if only one person was participating.

Laura was shocked by the revelation about their co-star

Speaking through her earpiece to their editor, Kate asked Sally to explain how it worked. As Ed began to imitate the movements of the sport, the editor seemed to rebuke him through Kate’s earpiece, leading Kate to say: “It’s an official Olympic sport, Ed, do not mock it!” Kate playfully demanded an explanation on air, saying: “I want Sally in the studio so that she can explain herself and I’d like a picture or some video of solo synchronised swimming because I think I found my sport.” Ed humorously retorted: “You cannot- it can’t, it can’t exist! It’s like having a solo 400-meter relay. I mean, if it’s solo, what’s the relay?”

Defending the sport, Kate told Ed that people were training for it at that very moment, as the host was being told more information by their editor through the earpiece. She explained that a person is synchronised with music, although Ed hit back: “That’s just swimming to music!” Kate returned to the Good Morning Britain studio this week after an extended absence from her role on the ITV show following her father’s ill health. In an Instagram post, she thanked her co-stars on the programme for changing plans in order to cover her while she cared for her family.
