Privacy NoticeJohn Barrowman made an early exit from Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins after just 32 minutes. However, while the show didn’t offer a reason, it actually wasn’t because of the brutal and gruelling physical tasks. The star has consumed “vile tofu” and subsequently fallen ill. In last night’s premiere episode of the new series, he was seen vomiting before making his unexpected departure. The Channel 4 show did not give an explanation for his exit, however, the singer and actor has attributed it to eating vegan sandwiches. The 57 year old, who lost his ITV judging role in 2021 due to flashing allegations, revealed that this had been the only food available prior to the first task in New Zealand.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: “I’m not a vegan or a vegetarian, but they made everybody eat vile tofu. I would never eat tofu in my life, but you’re so hungry, you just eat it.” Following his meal, John, who suffers from motion sickness, had to endure a two-hour car journey to the task location. He explained: “Then it was projectile vomit everywhere and the tofu came up. I thought, ‘I’m not going to make myself ill or hurt myself in order to try to prove something that I don’t need to prove’. And it was seriously me going: ‘I am completely comfortable with who I am. I’m completely a happy person. We’ve all got our issues and problems, but I’ve made a mistake.'” In other news, writer Rachel Johnson revealed she fractured a rib during a challenge on the show, but decided to “power on through”. Past celebrities who have quit due to health issues include Towie’s James Argent, who developed trenchfoot, and Geordie Shore’s Marnie Simpson, who had an infected wound on her breast. John recently confessed to experiencing suicidal thoughts following the scandal surrounding his on-set behaviour. The Doctor Who star had previously acknowledged exposing himself on set, but had downplayed it as mere “tomfoolery” and “high-spirited behaviour” intended to entertain colleagues. However, in a recent interview with the Mirror, he revealed that the scandal took a toll on his mental health. “I had thoughts of suicide, going out and trying to do certain things and harm myself, and a couple of times debating how I was going to kill myself,” he admitted. John, 57, credited his loved ones with preventing him from acting on these thoughts. “The thing was I couldn’t do it because of my family and friends,” he said, referencing his husband Scott Gill, whom he married in 2006. The controversy led to John losing his job on Dancing On Ice, and he expressed concerns about being “cancelled”. He disputed the narrative surrounding his actions, claiming that the incident was a “Something that was a stupid prank that was done amongst cast members and who the cast members never complained, never said anything about, but a narrative was created that apparently I was going around and throwing my c*** on people’s shoulders, which was not true, that had been exaggerated.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
