Privacy NoticeSinger and actor John Barrowman dramatically left Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins within just 32 minutes of his arrival at base camp, and now the whopping amount he was paid has been revealed. The Glasgow-born celeb, aged 57, made a brief appearance on the sixth series of the Channel 4 show which kicked off on Sunday 22 September. The series showcases celebs enduring tough SAS winter warfare training in the rugged terrains of New Zealand’s southern islands under the watchful eyes of the show’s highly trained instructors. The Doctor Who star was seen being sick following the first task. After gearing up and bracing for their accommodation, the clearly overwhelmed actor started to vomit and bluntly told his fellow contestants: “I’m out.” Now, the details of his hefty fee have emerged.

Despite his fleeting 32-minute stint, John pocketed a cool £30,000, reports the Daily Record. This equates to an astonishing £937.50 per minute that John raked in during his brief time on the intense survival show. He made his exit soon after throwing up in anticipation of a challenge. John blamed his sickness on having to eat “vile tofu”, the sole food choice at the camp, stating that as someone who is decidedly not vegetarian or vegan and enjoys his meat, the tofu really didn’t sit well with him. Opening up to The Sun about his shock exit from the much-loved Channel 4 reality show, he confessed: “I would never eat tofu in my life, but you’re so hungry, you just eat it.” John’s ordeal intensified due to his extreme travel sickness, which was exacerbated by a turbulent two-hour car journey after eating the tofu, ultimately leading to his decision to leave the show. He recounted the messy aftermath: “Then it was projectile vomit everywhere and the tofu came up. I thought ‘I’m not going to make myself ill or hurt myself in order to try to prove something that I don’t need to prove,'” he said with determination. “And it was seriously me going ‘I am completely comfortable with who I am. I’m completely a happy person. We’ve all got our issues and problems, but I’ve made a mistake.'” When Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham questioned if he’d see a doctor, John’s response was clear-cut: “No… I’m done.” He elaborated: “I just… it’s not for me, I know who I am and what I’m about, it’s not for me.” Reflecting on his brief stint, the show’s narrator remarked: “After only 32 minutes on base, number 13 John is the first recruit to leave the course.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
