Privacy NoticeJermaine Jenas has been axed from The One Show and Match of the Day amid allegations of “inappropriate behaviour”. The BBC has removed the presenter from both programmes after launching an “immediate internal investigation” when concerns about the ex-footballer’s conduct were brought to light. The Sun reports Jermaine was discreetly taken off the BBC’s official channels. A source told the publication that this situation is a “nightmare” for the broadcaster, following a complaint about his behaviour. They said: “After some immediate routine enquiries the decision was taken to take him off air, and terminate his contract. They continued: “The feeling is he won’t be back on the BBC.”, reports the Express.

A BBC spokesperson said: “We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting line up.” The Sun reports that the ex footballer is understood to have instructed lawyers in a bid to clear his name. Jermaine, a familiar face on BBC through his roles on MOTD and The One Show, was last seen on television alongside Alex Jones on Wednesday, July 22. The father-of-four joined The One Show in 2020 as a stand-in co-host following the departure of Matt Baker, and he was made a permanent fixture the following year. His final appearance on MOTD was on May 4. At the time of writing, the former footballer still has The One Show and BBC Sport listed on his official Instagram and Twitter handles. The star has been visibly less active on Instagram as of late, having only posted three pictures in the last three months.

His last post was two weeks ago, where he posted a highlight reel of his time fronting Formula E coverage. “Absolutely loved my first season in @fiaformulae thank you to everyone involved for helping me grow into the role it’s an incredible team and I can’t wait to get going again next year,” he wrote in the caption. Jermaine’s last appearance on air was this Saturday commentating for TNT Sports – formerly BT Sport, on Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Ipswich. Reports suggest that the well-known personality is “not happy” about the BBC’s decision to suspend him from broadcasting. Earning a significant salary from his television roles, Jermaine’s latest financial figures indicate an annual income ranging between £190,000 and £194,999. Jermaine, who was named by Gary Lineker as his “natural successor” is yet to comment publicly.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
