Privacy NoticeJeopardy! viewers have criticised the show for its “inconsistency” after a contestant narrowly missed out on a $6,000 prize. Despite Jeopardy! currently being on a break until 9 September, reruns of old episodes are still being broadcast to keep fans entertained. However, one such episode has sparked outrage among viewers. The episode in question features Terry O’Shea, a software engineer, reports the Mirror US . Terry was competing against Matt Jackson and Alan Lin and seemed to be performing well until the Final Jeopardy! round where the questions didn’t go his way – and fans weren’t happy with the contestant’s downfall either.

Host Ken Jennings presented the contestants with the clue: “Captured in Egypt by the British Army 1801” is painted on the side of this artifact named for the city where it was found. Terry responded with: “What is Rosetta,” but Ken did not accept her answer. Instead, he stated that the correct response was: “What is Rosetta Stone.” The decision has infuriated fans, with some claiming that Matt was permitted to give incomplete answers.

One viewer took to Reddit to express their frustration, writing: “Okay so on today’s episode Terry Shaw for the final answer wrote down ‘what is Rosetta’ And Ken goes and tells her ‘sorry that’s not good enough’ after Matt Jackson hadn’t been saying full answers all night long.” Frustration and debate erupted on social media after a contestant on Jeopardy faced inconsistency with the quiz show’s answers. One viewer sympathised, writing: “I’m not even a stickler for full answers, but at least be consistent, poor Terry lost 6 grand on the decision of jeopardy to be inconsistent tonight.” Others defended the ruling. One person clarified: “Rosetta isn’t an artifact. The Rosetta Stone is.” While another simply stated: “She misread the question and gave the wrong answer shrug .” Some suggested the outcome wouldn’t have changed, remarking: “The game was a runaway anyway”.

There had been rumours that Ken Jennings would be replaced at the host

Rationalising the situation further, another fan noted: “Not quoting the entire question has nothing to do with not answering questions correctly. Besides that, I think the double Jeopardy round has different rules than the first round about quoting the entire question? But regardless, Rosetta is a town. The Rosetta Stone is the artifact.”. Recently, rumoured have swirled that Ken Jennings, who has hosted Jeopardy! could be facing the axe. The speculation started after Ken wasn’t chosedn to host the new Jeopardy” spin-off show, Pop Culture Jeopardy!Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
