Privacy NoticeJanet Street-Porter snapped at a member of the Loose Women audience today after dropping a confession that sparked widespread horror in the studio. The star, asked to admit the weirdest thing she keeps in her freezer, replied bluntly: “Roadkill.” Spotting a negative reaction from the audience, she turned to a woman seated close enough that she could hear what was being said, replying: “Oh, oh, oh. It’s too late for the oh-ing, love. It’s too late for oh. I’m making use of a resource that would be otherwise wasted.” Seemingly relishing the awkward moment of audience interaction as the sarcastic use of the word “love”, Janet’s Loose Women co-star Denise Welch, 66, seated to her left said: “Oh, love!” Janet – who rarely backs down from any argument on air – had to explain was roadkill was to co-star Kelly Holmes, 54, who said “I haven’t even heard of that.” The former newspaper editor explained simply: “Roadkill… that is stuff that got hit by cars that is on the side of the road.” She said: “if I am driving in the countryside and I see a pheasant, for example – a nice, big, fat game bird that has been hit by a car and it doesn’t look mangled up, I will throw it in the boot and when I get home I will take all the feathers off it and pop it in the freezer.” Janet has been singing the praises of eating roadkill for years, talking about it on the programme as far back as 2019, saying: “If see a deer by the side of the road that’s been hit by a lorry or a car [I pick it up], what else are you going to do? “We used to eat it, there’s nothing wrong with it. You can go on YouTube and watch a video on how to slaughter it. “Venison is a free range meat that lives on grains and it is very healthy, better than most chickens. I eat game, I eat fish, we had a fish last week that we caught, put a line in the river, caught a sea bass, nothing wrong with that.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
