More infoJoin us on WhatsApp Jamie Laing had to cancel his scheduled appearance on ITV’s Lorraine this morning due to unexpected setbacks as he approached the end of his Ultra Marathon. Jamie has been powering through a run from London to Salford in support of Comic Relief, aiming to chat with Christine Lampard on Lorraine upon reaching the finish line. However, this morning Christine shared with viewers: “Jamie was supposed to be speaking to us but there are various issues going on right now.” Adding more detail, Lucie Cave said: “We were hoping to speak to him at the end but he hasn’t quite made it yet. He’s been in real pain, very emotional and overwhelmed. He’s done an amazing job and he’s raised £1m so far. He’ll be so pleased with that.”

Christine jumped in to praise Jamie’s efforts over the gruelling run. “He’s doing an incredible job and he’s so nearly at the end,” she remarked. The day before, an exhausted Jamie on BBC Radio 1 confessed, “I’m a broken man” after completing the fourth day of his daunting five-day, 150-mile run. His morale was boosted by the cheers of best friend Oliver Proudlock and wife Sophie Habboo who showed up to support him, reports the Mirror.

Reflecting on his intense experience post-run, Jamie admitted: “That was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, hands down. There was a point where we were about halfway, 25 kilometres, in and I didn’t think I had it. That was it. I was done.” Finishing on a high note, he added: “But it was amazing to run into the crowd at Loughborough, it was incredible – and for Oli and Soph to surprise me today. I couldn’t believe it.” Jamie confessed: “Everything is quite overwhelming at the moment – I’m a broken man right now and although my body is seizing up and I’m mentally drained and scared about tomorrow, somehow it is still a good feeling. We go again.” The star had no prior experience with long-distance running before taking on the challenge, having never even completed a 10k. Describing the gruelling experience, he said: “My body is saying, ‘What are you doing? You probably need to stop’. It’s shutting down on me.” You can support Jamie’s efforts by donating at Radio 1’s Ultra Marathon Man with Jamie Laing | Comic Relief.
