Privacy NoticeITV News icon Lucy Meacock has spoken about her fabulous wedding day following her departure from the network. The 64 year old presenter hung up her mic at ITV Granada Reports last August after an impressive 36-year stint, describing her exit as “one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made.” Having been a staple on Granada Reports since 1998 and its leading lady for years, Lucy took to social media this weekend to share snaps of her tying the knot with her beau Jonathan. Dressed in a sparkling long-sleeved white dress, Lucy looked every inch the radiant bride as she strolled down the aisle, while Jonathan cut a suave figure in his three-piece suit.

The lovebirds exchanged vows in Eccleston, Lancashire, surrounded by their nearest and dearest. Lucy’s wedding was peppered with personal touches, like the white roses in her bouquet as a nod to Jonathan’s Yorkshire roots. She shared the heartfelt reason behind her floral choice: “White roses as groom is from Yorkshire.” Lucy also included “one secret flower that was my Dad’s favourite so he was there when I walked up the aisle,” later leaving it at the spot where she scattered her parents’ ashes years before. The ex-news anchor also gave us a glimpse into the glam squad efforts behind her bridal look, jokingly revealing: “Secrets of a bride! It takes a lot of very hardworking and brilliant people to make me look like this!!” reports the Mirror. Sign up to OK!’s TV newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

I believe in thanking people when they do a great job. Thank you for transforming me.” Newlyweds, Lucy and Jonathan, received a wave of heartfelt messages with one fan writing: “Wishing you a long and happy marriage Lucy, filled with lots of love, laughter and good times.” Another added: “So many congratulations to you both – such a beautiful day. Wishing you every happiness for your future together xx.” A third touched by the elegance said: “Aw how lovely. Simple elegance. Brought a tear to my eyes the bouquet xx.” And a fourth wrote: “Congratulations and you looked amazing absolutely stunning hope you both have a wonderful life together meant to be.”

Prior to her wedding, Lucy revealed the news on her departure from ITV News with a heavy heart: “This has been one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made. But the time is right to move on now. For me it has always been the best job in the world, with the best people in the world, in the best region in the world! I am very grateful that I was given this job so many years ago. I have always tried my hardest to make a positive contribution and I hope I will be remembered with some fondness in the years ahead.” She continued: “It has been a complete honour and privilege to serve the people of this region and I will always have the interests of the North West at heart. A big thank you to all the people who have appeared on the programme over the years, sometimes when they have been facing some very tough challenges.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
