“Before, I was thinking, ‘Gosh, 45 this year, what’s it going to be like this time around?'” Susanna playfully suggested that perhaps he thought he needed a new project, to which Alex agreed with a chuckle reports the Manchester Evening News. Ed chimed in with a dose of reality, joking: “Can I say Alex, it’s not normal for parents to have a new lease of energy. It’s normal for them to be exhausted. Does your partner have a new lease of energy?” Alex laughed off Ed’s comment and took a moment to sing praises for his partner Imogen, exclaiming: “She’s just been incredible, hats off to her. If men were to have children, there would be no more children because what she did was absolutely incredible.”
Alex shared an adorable snap with her newborn daughter Camille
He continued to admire her strength, especially through the demanding early stages of motherhood, saying: “Hats off to her, the cluster feeding as well, the breastfeeding, big respect for all of that and she’s persevered through it and it’s just been a joy to watch.” Ed shared that when he and his wife, Yvette Cooper, had children, she put him on nappy duty for the first month, a sentiment Alex agreed with. He said: “Oh I do the lot because that’s the one thing that I can do because she’s breastfeeding all the time and she (Camille) wants to be on mummy. The one thing I can do is change nappies, so I’ve been changing every single nappy.”
Alex praised his partner Imogen after giving birth three weeks ago
Susanna humorously noted that the newborn must be keeping him quite occupied as Alex went on to express how extraordinary the past three weeks have been. He expressed his gratitude, adding: “I just want to actually thank The Queen Charlotte at Chelsea hospital. “They were absolutely amazing, our midwife was incredible and big respect for the NHS for everything that they do because I just saw so many people constantly going the extra mile. So grateful.” Camille is Alex’s second child; he previously welcomed a son named Cruz, now 14, with his former partner, Natalia Natkaniec. Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
