Privacy NoticeGMB’s Laura Tobin faced backlash after alerting viewers that the UK is set for its “hottest day of the year.” ITV’s Good Morning Britain came under fire this Friday (July 19) for what some viewers described as an “embarrassing” reaction to the impending heatwave. Weather guru, Laura Tobin, was back on screen with her daily forecast, but when she warned viewers about a steamy day ahead, not everyone was thrilled. The weather boffin predicted showers in the north and west of the UK, whilst other regions were told to expect dry and sunny conditions with temperatures peaking at around 31 degrees. Tobin urged folks to lather up in suncream, given the extreme heat ahead.

In fact, a cooler snap is anticipated as we venture into next week, reports the Mirror. Despite most Brits eager for a bit of sunshine following a washout summer, GMB watchers weren’t exactly happy with the show’s broadcast and took to their social media profiles to share their annoyance. One peeved viewer let off some steam on X (previously known as Twitter), typing: “# gmb will be pushing global warming next…. Good luck with that after this s*** summer.” A second person jested: “Here we go. First day of proper summer and they couldn’t wait to get the warnings out, going to p*** down tomorrow.” ‘It’s embarrassing’ Another disgruntled viewer took to Twitter, saying: “Bore off, this is not Africa it’s embarrassing.” A further critique followed with: “Bizarre weather presentation. Colours that resemble a burning fire and an average line devoid of any figures. This isn’t information, it’s propaganda and fearmongering. #gmb #weather,” tweeted another miffed fan. The frustration continued with someone writing: “One day of sun and there a health alerts. Oh p*** off. #gmb.” Meanwhile, the Met Office’s resident weather expert, Alex Burkill, issued a serious warning about the soaring temperatures. He warned viewers of a potential “tropical night” on both Thursday and Friday, due to a heat health alert being in action. He pointed out: “Temperatures are set to rise in London. Some places will see 30C-31C which are most likely. Temperatures will stay in the high teens/ low 20s in the night between Thursday-Friday which will make it a tropical night.” Going on to further explain, Alex said: “There is a heat health alert issued by the UK Health Security Agency because it’s going to be hot by day and uncomfortably warm by night, particularly towards the Southeast of the UK.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
