Privacy Notice Good Morning Britain was left in a bit of a pickle when Ben Shephard didn’t show up for his scheduled interview. Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley, who were back on our screens this morning presenting the popular ITV breakfast show, were expecting to catch up with former GMB presenter Ben, but he was noticeably absent. Ben had flown off to Germany with fellow TV star Chris Kamara, and ex GMB presenter Piers Morgan to watch the Euro 2024 final where England battled it out against Spain. Unfortunately, England fans were left disappointed after the team’s 2-1 defeat. The 49 year old was supposed to join the show live from Berlin, but while former England manager Sam Allardyce, 69, and ex-England player John Terry, 43, appeared via video link, there was no sign of Ben.

Kate couldn’t resist a playful jab at her good friend. She quipped: “We were also supposed to have Ben Shephard but it seems he is taking his own personal Bank Holiday. He has not got up so far this morning, we will see if we can wake him up.” She then teased Sam and John: “Feel free to lampoon him both of you while you talk. I know you know him very well”, reports Wales Online.

Back in February, Ben opened up about how tough it was to leave Kate at GMB. At the time, he confessed that leaving his good friend was the “hardest decision” after joining This Morning. He confessed: “I’ve loved hosting Good Morning Britain over the past 10 years since it launched. When I left GMTV, I always swore I’d never go back because of the early mornings and it goes to show how wrong I was.” He further revealed that his GMB family is merely a stone’s throw away. If he ever gets nostalgic, he affirmed they’re just in the neighbouring studio.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
