Emmerdale viewers were dealt a heartbreaking twist on Friday night as the soap appeared to reveal Nate Robinson’s tragic end. After much speculation that he was the mystery body Amy Wyatt stumbled upon in the lake, a scene seemed to confirm the suspicions. We witnessed Amy plummet through the ice following a limousine accident on Monday, and although she was saved, the time spent submerged proved too much, leading to her demise on Thursday’s tearful episode. The crash also claimed the lives of Leyla Harding and Suzy Merton. The discovery of a fourth victim came when Amy found a corpse in the water and seemed to recognise it before her death. However, her husband Matty Barton was puzzled by her final words. The penny dropped for Amy on Tuesday 18 February after noticing the arm of the body sported a bracelet similar to one made by Tracy’s daughter Frankie — Amy had a matching piece. It dawned on her that the body belonged to Frankie’s dad, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), which she confirmed to Matty by indicating “in the water” just moments prior to her passing.

Matty misunderstood her, and soon after, Amy passed away. Loyal fans had guessed this could be the case, given the silence around Nate’s character since his purported departure to Shetland in September after his relationship with Tracy ended due to false accusations of infidelity, reports the Mirror. The shocking revelation of Nate’s affair led to his father, Cain Dingle, disowning him. The last time we saw Nate, he was having a conversation with John Sugden on the farm before the barn explosion. He vowed to leave the toxic village for good. It wasn’t until days later that villagers realised Nate had disappeared, with no one able to reach him.

He’s only been sending messages to Tracy, and no one has actually spoken to him. So when a body was found, fans immediately suspected it was Nate due to the jacket sleeve and bracelet. On Friday, as a heartbroken Tracy called her ex, begging him to come home, the camera panned back to the lake and the body sinking in a body bag. We once again saw the arm with the bracelet, seemingly confirming this was Nate’s body. With this confirmation, we now know what really happened to Nate after his strange exit in September. While we don’t know how he died or who killed him, we do know that Nate never left the village. He never made it to Shetland and has not been the person contacting Tracy. Nate was seemingly murdered, his body hidden in the lake yet to be discovered, and he’s been there all this time.
