Dick and Angel Strawbridge own the stunning 19th Century French chateau which is recognisable from featuring in Channel 4’s popular show Escape to the Chateau. The TV series was recently axed after a seven-year run and the couple have since suspended their wedding business. The Strawbridge’s first purchased the property back in 2015, after they traded in their two-bedroom Essex flat and made the big move to France. They paid just £280,000 for the 45-room Château de la Motte Husson after it stood empty for 40 years without any electricity, heating or running water.The couple found fame with the show as they documented their renovation journey to completely transform the Château which became a stunning venue to hire for weddings and other luxurious events. The Strawbridge’s even used their luxury abode as the setting for their own wedding during the show’s first series. Located in a small market town in Western France the Château has a sprawling 12 acres of grounds, surrounded by a walled garden and even has a moat. It also features an Orangery and an indoor “winter garden” located in the tiled conservatory-style outhouse – there is also a large workshop where Dick was known to carry out many projects during the show.Inside it comprises of vintage interiors, retro furniture and art, a restored vintage bath, a “wallpaper wall” and a hidden bar.
