But when it comes to his own pad, the Channel 4 star lives in a stunning West London abode, after completely transforming it himself. The restoration expert, 50, snapped up a classic 1960s Notting Hill property back in 2015 and completely renovated the sprawling property. George overhauled the West London home, opting for a modern yet sophisticated look with quirky details in a nod to his expertise in design. George, who lives at the lavish pad with his wife Katie and his three children from a previous marriage, Emilio, George and Iona, has his own office space overspilled with books. The dedicated room boasting wood throughout, has various shelves fitted on the walls with books, photos and architectural designs filling every space.

Speaking of his love for literature, George previously said: “Books. Reading is one of my escapes. My daughter the other day said, ‘Dad, you’ve got to get rid of some of your books’. “You can’t see my coffee table anymore because it’s stacked, 10 books high, over the whole thing. If I carry on, soon I won’t be able to see the TV!” For any designer’s dream, the fancy pad also comes with a hidden garden studio. Speaking of this space, George previously told the Daily Mail: “This studio, which I built in my garden after buying my house three years ago, is where I escape to read and write. It’s so peaceful except for the rumble of the Tube going past, but I love that. “My house is from the 60s and it reminds me of my mum’s place on an estate in Sunderland though sadly it’s about 15 times more expensive.”

On top of the outbuildings roof, it is fitted with faux grass to compliment its neutral surroundings with a skylight where the star can peer up to the sky. While he’s an advocate for home design, George has opted to keep several elements of his home private. Emphasising how important a home is, he previously told House Beautiful: “Your home is the most important piece of architecture in your life, the extended member of the family. “It affects how you socialise with your partner or kids and friends. It’s also your retreat and your personal space. “I absolutely love my house. It’s a 1960s house in West London that I refurbished a number of years ago, so quite contemporary but, at the same time, very homely.”

However, he has revealed some interesting luxurious items that are dotted around his home, including his beloved black Eames lounge chair and ottoman. He previously shared: “I bought it about 20 years ago. It’s in my living room and I never sit on it to watch TV. It’s my reading chair. I’d always dreamt of having an original.” But there are a few items still on George’s wishlist as he revealed: “I’d love to have a wine cellar. It would have to be a proper, really cool, beautifully designed wine cellar.
