Privacy NoticeLorraine Kelly may be one of the most beloved faces on British TV and known as the Queen of Daytime TV, but behind the scenes, her long-lasting marriage to husband Steve Smith is far less photographed. Yet, as Lorraine celebrates an incredible 40 years on TV, it’s her supportive relationship with Steve which has always been there when the cameras stopped rolling. TV legend Lorraine, 64, first met Steve when they both worked at ITV, with Lorraine in front of the camera and Steve behind it. The pair’s love story blossomed while Lorraine’s career did, too. In an upcoming new TV special celebrating Lorraine’s milestone 40 years on telly, titled Lorraine: 40 Unforgettable Years, she gets candid about the moment she met Steve – and how it didn’t take long for her to realise that he was “the one”.

At the time, Lorraine was working on the ITV breakfast show TV-am as its Scottish correspondent. Lorraine remembers: “Not only was it the best job in the world, one morning in walks Stephen Smith, our new member of the crew.” She added: “I just looked at him and I thought ‘He’s the one’. I knew right away. We just clicked.” The couple married in 1992, and are still together today, having celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary just last month. She took to social media to share a sweet black and white photo from their wedding day to mark the occasion, and wrote alongside it: “Happy Anniversary @stevesmithdundee THIRTY TWO years you’ve put up with me! Love you.”

She also posted a recent pic for her fans, showing the loved-up couple cuddled up and beaming with happiness, writing: “A more up to date pic of me and @stevesmithdundee – for our 32nd anniversary – up at The Law in Dundee.” Though Lorraine has become a household name, Steve has always remained more private, making only rare appearances by her side at public events or in photos. Despite his low profile, Steve has been a constant source of support throughout Lorraine’s career.

Lorraine and Steve’s shared interests have played a key role in keeping their marriage strong. Together, they’ve explored the world, collecting fridge magnets as souvenirs from each destination they visit. Lorraine has often credited their sense of adventure and humour as being at the heart of their marriage. The couple have one daughter, Rosie, who was born in 1994. Now 30, Rosie is also a first-time mum to daughter Billie, who she gave birth to this August, and making Lorraine and Steve grandparents for the first time.
