Ellie and Matt dated for around two years and had known each other since they were children. It was reported last year that they had parted ways, with it being claimed the break-up was “amicable”. The former couple largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight. Matt proved to be a huge support to Ellie during her Strictly stint, and it was previously revealed that he encouraged her to sign up for the BBC show. Ellie previously told The Sun: “I was like shall I, shall I not. Then I spoke to my other half Matt, and he was like ‘go for it Ellie, take that leap of faith, you don’t know unless you try.’ Now I’m so happy I said yes. As soon as I did we were bouncing around the kitchen like yay! Like little buzzing bees.” Ellie is believed to currently be single following he reported split from Matt. She has not spoken out about the split.

While the star tends to keep her love life out of the spotlight, she has been open about her upbringing and family life. The Paralympian explored her adoption story in a ITV documentary. Ellie was fostered at just ten days old, and formally adopted a few months later. After seeing documents from her birth mum, Ellie said: “Until now, it’s never emotionally affected me, it never made me feel rejected or ask why do my birth parents not want me. I’ve been so focussed on the future and never thought about it.” Speaking to MailOnline, Ellie’s adoptive mother, said: “When Katie was born with dwarfism we didn’t know anything about it so had to do a lot of research about it. A few months after that, we got a call one day asking us if we wanted to adopt a child with the same condition, which was Ellie. We never said no to any child that needed our help and love. I suppose we had a big house and wanted to fill it with children and that we got quite good at taking them in.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
