Between the mince pies hitting the supermarket shelves and the sequinned party outfits dropping into stores over the past few weeks I am already excited for the festive season as it approaches. However, if there’s one thing about Christmas I hate it’s a novelty knit. Sorry to those fans out there, you can call me a fashion snob but you won’t spot me wearing a red-nosed Rudolph jumper anytime soon. Of course, Christmas jumpers are one of the festive fundamentals we can’t usually avoid when the season hits, so this year I’ve been looking for some stylish alternatives and River Island might have just convinced me to jump on board the seasonal knitwear train. I know it’s only October, but this Green Champagne Season Christmas Jumper, £45 River Island is the best I’ve seen so far. It’s playful, it’s quirky and the pink and green colour combo looks chic, not cheap- it’s no surprise the jumper is already trending online. If you want to get your hands on it, you’re going to have to be quick, because I predict it’s going to be a sell-out. The knit which is aptly sloganed for me with ‘Champagne Season’ comes as part of a collaboration with illustrator Nephthys Foster who has worked with River Island to create the Christmas jumper collection of dreams for those of you like me who despise novelty knits – yipeee! If pink and green isn’t for you, you can also nab the jumper in black here. Earlier this week, River Island revealed their festive jumper collaboration with London-based illustrator Nephthys Foster. Known for her vibrant prints that ‘celebrate life’s special moments’, Nephthys has designed nine unique jumpers with five mini-me styles that are perfect for sporting throughout the holidays. I also love the ‘Santa Baby’ design, also £45 here. Elsewhere if you want , Marks and Spencer has started to launch some festive designs, including this Soft Touch Slogan Jumper, which reads ‘Sparkle’ for £29.50.
