Privacy NoticeLazyTown’s beloved Stefan Karl Stefansson left fans heartbroken with a touching farewell in his final post on Instagram. The popular Robbie Rotten actor sadly passed away in August 2018, aged 43, after battling cancer. The Icelandic actor had battled bile duct cancer in 2016 and after surgery it seemed he was on the road to recovery. In a poignant last Instagram post in June 2017 before his cancer returned, Stefansson thanked his followers for their support. He posted an image of a rainbow with the words: “At the end of every storm there is a rainbow of hope.” Stefansson’s heartfelt words were: “From the bottom of my heart I thank you for the support you provide me. Tragically, by March 2018, the disease returned, untreatable this time around. In a poignant Twitter message in March 2018, Stefan mused: “It’s not until they tell you you’re going to die soon that you realize how short life is. “Time is the most valuable thing in life because it never comes back. And whether you spend it in the arms of a loved one or alone in a prison cell, life is what you make of it. Dream big.” Post-diagnosis, he opted to remove most of his presence from social media, leaving only his Instagram active, reports the Mirror.

Devastated followers raced to the comments to offer tributes, with one fan expressing: “Rest in peace Stefan Karl you were a brilliant part of my childhood and recently my teen years we will all miss you :(.” “Thank you so much, Stefan. You made my childhood. RIP,” another fan emotionally penned. A third said: “Rest In Peace you will always be Number 1”. One fan added: “You were a perfect actor this was your last photo you will not be forgotten.” A family spokesperson revealed to TMZ that he passed away in the loving presence of friends and family.
