I wore this Simply Be jacket for an autumn wedding recently (Image: Faith Richardson)When it comes to autumn weddings, we all face the same dilemma – what jacket to wear to keep us warm. No matter how carefully you’ve chosen your outfit for the day, you’ll be needing a cosy outer layer to help keep the chill away, especially if you’ll be spending a fair amount of time outside or standing around. However finding one that manages to be both stylish and warm can be tricky, which is why I was thrilled when my Natural Round Neck Zip Through Borg Jacket from Simply Be came through for me when I was a bridesmaid at a recent October wedding. The £58 jacket was the perfect choice for the day for several reasons, but most importantly it kept me nice and warm whilst still looking smart and stylish. The boxy, hip-length fit, rounded neckline and curved hems made sure it looked elegant and smart, and its light brown colour was also a bonus. The shade was just right for the wedding’s autumnal vibes, and it even looked intentional, rather than an afterthought, when worn with our bridesmaid dresses (rust coloured, in case you were wondering). The faux suede lining and fluffy faux shearling material also both kept me warm and cosy all day without making me sweat, which was definitely a bonus whilst wearing a satin dress.

The zip fastening meant it hung nicely even when it wasn’t fastened, and the open patch pockets on the front were also handy for keeping things like my wallet, lipstick and, of course, tissues to hand. Whilst I don’t have a snap of myself in the jacket at the wedding to share, you’ll have to take my word for it that it was the perfect choice for the day – plus, it got so many compliments from friends and strangers that I knew it had nailed the brief. Apart from being a godsend for this very special occasion, the Simply Be borg jacket has also been one of my most reached-for coats this season. It goes with just about everything, including my staple seasonal outfit of a jumper and jeans, and its oversized enough to give plenty of layering room underneath. It’s also worth mentioning that it comes in a really diverse range of sizes, from a UK10 to a UK 32, and you can also pick it up in a light grey colour if that’s more your style. I’ve also spotted some other lovely alternatives around that would also be perfect for autumn weddings. Over at Roman, you can get this Dusk Borg Detail Longline Coat in either beige or black for £75. It has a similar look to my Simply Be jacket but is longer and has a collared neckline instead of a rounded one. Alternatively, Debenhams has the Yumi Cream Borg High Neck Jacket With Faux Leather Trims also for £75, which also has a boxy fit and length, with a high neckline and button fastenings up the front. It has faux-leather details, including seamed edges and tabs under the buttons, which give it a more expensive look, reports the Mirror.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
