Denim is a staple in my wardrobe, especially during the spring and summer seasons. I’m a big fan of denim jeans and am constantly on the lookout for the perfect pair. Despite wearing jeans almost daily, I’ve started to find them increasingly uncomfortable, but I’m not ready to part ways with them just yet. So when I came across River Island’s “pyjama jeans” on their website, I knew I had to give them a try to see if they could become my new everyday go-to. You might have seen Rag and Bone’s viral ‘sweatpant jeans’ making rounds on social media, but with a price tag of £195, they’re essentially an expensive pair of joggers. However, River Island’s version is much more budget-friendly at £39. The Blue Wide Leg Pyjama Style Jeans are made from super stretchy denim that gives the feel of pyjama bottoms while maintaining the look of regular denim jeans. They come in a trendy wide-leg style and feature an elasticated waistband that can be adjusted, along with the standard four pockets typically found on denim jeans, reports the Mirror. I decided to put these relaxed-style jeans to the test by wearing them to the office to see if anyone would notice that they weren’t “real” jeans. Pros As easy to style as normal jeans Feel as comfy as pyjamas Light wash colour is perfect for spring Trendy wide-leg shape Cons If you prefer high-waisted trousers, they are labelled as mid-rise, but seem to be more low-rise Waistband slightly gives away that they’re not “proper” jeans River Island Pyjama Style Jeans Review My office’s dress code is pretty relaxed; we’re allowed to wear jeans and trainers, but I think turning up to work in full-on pyjama bottoms would be a bit too far. So I thought I would test this pair out to see if I got any weird reactions from colleagues asking why I’d decided to wear pyjamas into the office. No one even realised my jeans weren’t my usual denim. I even received a few compliments on the flattering, wide-leg fit. And the best part was that I felt just as comfortable on my office outfit as I am on my work-from-home days when I can be a bit more relaxed in tracksuit bottoms or slouchy trousers.

It will be hard to go back to wearing normal stiff denim jeans after wearing these all day long. But luckily, I don’t actually have to because this pair is still made from denim and looks like denim, just a relaxed, stretchy version. My only issue with these jeans is that I’m not a massive fan of the elasticated waistband. This gives away the fact that they are more like stretchy trousers rather than classic denim jeans. However, this is mostly down to personal preference. The waistband’s bonus is that you can tie it up and cinch your waist in to give a more figure-flattering shape. If you’re keen to try out the trend, Rag and Bone’s Miramar Wide-Leg Jeans (sweatpants jeans) are available on Anthropologie for a cool £195. But if you’re after a more budget-friendly option, New Look’s Blue Drawstring Waist Denim Trousers are a steal at £26.99, offering the comfort of trousers with a denim-effect finish.
