A hotel critic, known for his discount hotel reviews, was left stunned after booking a room for just £12.80 per night in the North West. Zac Jones, who has a large following on TikTok as @zacjonesliverpool, shared his experience at a hotel in Blackpool, where he stayed in a budget-friendly room. Upon entering the room, Zac was surrounded by retro decor, including blue patterned carpeting and basic amenities such as a kettle, chest of drawers, and a wall-mounted TV. “Vintage,” he exclaimed in the footage. “We have a vintage room tonight.” Zac then focused on the low-set double bed with a drab brown duvet set, commenting: “A bit dirty, but £12.80 this is not bad is it? You’ve even got a television, a kettle, tea and coffee.”

He then panned to the window, revealing a less-than-scenic view dominated by adjacent buildings, lacking a picturesque seaside panorama, reports the Mirror. Using a UV light to uncover any hidden filth, he then inspected the mattress for cleanliness. “Not a terrible first impression,” he considered. “You know what, for £12.80 a night I’m impressed,” Zac admitted with a resigned tone. As he checked out the en-suite bathroom, which initially looked immaculate, a more thorough look uncovered some dirt around the shower sealant. He gave the mirror a quick once-over before critiquing the toilet seat, remarking: “I’ve seen worse but there are a couple of hairs.” Zac wrapped up his tour by pointing out a touch of mould near the window and noticing some faux flowers, yet he stayed positive, concluding: “But for £12.80? I’m taking this all day.” Online, viewers were largely in agreement that Zac had snagged a steal after seeing the video. Another TikTok user wondered: “How anyone can complain for that price? You get what you pay for I guess.” Meanwhile, a third chimed in, “Honestly as long as there’s no bed bugs and the bedding was washed I’d be fine with that.” And another added their two cents, saying: “Cheaper than a hostel. it’s fantastic for that price. I’ve slept in worse and paid 10x.” On a different note, one commenter did the maths, humorously suggesting it would be cheaper to live there permanently instead of paying rent for a private place. Their breakdown went like this: “You could pay 358.40 every month to live here, for someone who is homeless say, this would be an absolute saving grace! Warm bed, kettle, tv etc.”
