Privacy Notice Two years ago, Prince William and Kate Middleton made the decision to relocate their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – from London to Windsor. The family chose Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Home Park as their new home, a four-bedroom property that is considerably more modest than their previous Kensington Palace apartment. There were several reasons behind this move, but one of Prince William’s motivations was particularly poignant and related to his dearly loved grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth. This touching detail was revealed by Royal author and journalist Robert Jobson in his latest book Catherine, Princess of Wales. He suggested that a significant reason for the family’s move to Windsor was the couple’s wish to spend as much time as possible with the late Queen during her final days.

The Royal expert penned that William “knew his time with his grandmother was precious and he is delighted they, as a couple, made that decision,” He added: “Catherine understood that for William, as a future king, it was important for him to be geographically closer to the late Queen in her final months, when he was required to support both her and his father. It made a real difference. They were in regular contact, seeing each other in person and speaking on the phone several times a week, bringing them even closer.” Sadly, the Queen passed away not long after the couple’s relocation, but this meant they also had some valuable time in their new home of Adelaide Cottage with the former monarch in her last months – and Jobson also suggested that William’s decision was also influenced by the death of Prince Philip, the late Queen’s husband.

Philip passed away in April 2021, and this was reportedly also a factor when it came to prioritising their time with the late Queen, who had just lost her husband of 73 years, reports the Mirror. While the couple have maintained their Kensington Palace apartment – which they are reported to use as offices currently – they are now based full-time in Windsor, with their three children attending the nearby Lambrook School.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
