Privacy NoticeAlex Dimitriades is perhaps best known for playing Nick Poulos in the 1990s show Heartbreak High, which was a spin-off series following the 1993 film The Heartbreak Kid’s success. The actor was 21 years old when filming for the hit Australian show began – and his character was meant to be a teenager. Fans will recall the actor left Heartbreak High in 1994 after Network Ten refused to pay him more money to take part in the second series. His character, Nick, was subsequently killed off but Alex went on to star in several other projects involving the show’s creators which included the police drama Blue Murder.

While reflecting on his time playing ‘cool kid’ Nick, Alex told Daily Mail Australia in 2021: “I’m very lucky, in terms of how it was set up and structured. I was a teenager and we did a movie first, The Heartbreak Kid and that was hugely successful… I was like a young new star and they really put me out there.” He concluded: “And I had no idea what was going on, I was rolling with the punches and I was very, very young and just out there, living the dream I suppose… I knew I was good at it [acting] and I knew I had potentially a good future with but it’s not something I ever imagined doing. It was pretty wild.”

Moving forward to the present day, Alex is now one of Sydney’s most in-demand DJs and is better known by the name DJ Boogie Monster. “I’ve just always loved records, but most importantly quality, inspired music and not necessarily what you can access so easily,” he told news.com.au. He’s now 50 years old, he’s unrecognisable from his Heartbreak High days and was recently spotted in Sydney catching a bus wearing a camel jumper over a white shirt paired with grey tracksuit bottoms and a black beanie hat. Alex previously told the publication how he’d always wanted to remain humble and grounded, adding: “I remained the same person. I was starting trying to visualise where I wanted to go with this thing and not get caught up with [the idea of], ‘how awesome I am’.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
