Privacy Notice The gunman who tried to assassinate Donald Trump searched for a member of the Royal family online while planning his attack, it has emerged. Members of the US Congress released details of a briefing they had with the FBI, where they told 20-year-old Thomas Crooks had done a Google search for a member of the monarchy. FBI agents trawling his online past found searches for FBI director Christopher Wray, the FBI director; US attorney-general Merrick Garland and a Royal, whose identity was not revealed. The US Secret Service, whose job is to protect political leaders and visiting heads of state or government, is under scrutiny after Crooks was able to open fire at a Trump rally in America.

One person was killed and two others critically injured while Trump, the President before Joe Biden, was wounded in the ear. Crooks was killed by US Secret Service agents after the attempted assassination. Several members of the public have insisted that they warned security staff at the event of what was unfolding in the minutes before the attack, pointing out he had climbed onto a roof and appeared to be carrying a gun. Since Saturday, FBI agents have been trying to assemble a motive for the attack by downloading the contents of two mobile phones he owned. It was also claimed during the call that he was rejected from the venue after setting off a metal detector at the entrance. Trump supporter Saurabh Sharma, who was sitting near the front, explained the aftermath, saying: “The audience wasn’t like what you’d expect out of a crowd that just experienced something like this. “Everyone was really quiet. There were a few women crying. They were, you know, saying, ‘I can’t believe they tried to kill him’.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
