Privacy NoticeThe Great British Bake Off has unveiled its 2024 line-up of bakers ahead of the Channel 4 show’s return. The baking show has become a must-watch on our TV due to its tricky baking tasks, cheeky innuendos, soggy bottoms and, of course, the iconic Paul Hollywood handshake. It’s now been officially confirmed that the fifteenth series of The Great British Bake Off will kick off on 24 Tuesday, September at 8pm. A fresh batch of twelve bakers will step into the tent and compete against each other for the coveted cake stand and the honour of being crowned Bake Off champion, reports the Mirror.

This 44 year old car mechanic from Essex has a passion for baking. As a youngster, baking with his mum, Andy first mastered the family favourites: apple crumble following a Sunday roast and Bakewell tarts made from pastry leftovers (to ensure nothing was wasted) among them. Now, he bakes for his partner, Nickie, and hopes to inspire his daughter, Maisie, to follow in his baking footsteps always with the goal of making his beloved mum proud. When he’s not whipping up a storm in the kitchen or tent, Andy loves to kick about a football, hit the gym and take long strolls with Nickie, Maisie and their adorable miniature Schnauzer, Arthur. They also adore adventuring to the farthest reaches of the country in their motor home. Christiaan

Christiaan, who hails from the small town of Emmen in The Netherlands, made the move to the UK seven years ago after studying fashion in Amsterdam. He landed in London to work for a top-tier fashion brand. The 33 year old reckons his passion for fashion and design seeps into his baking, resulting in meticulously detailed and stunning bakes. He’s also a gardening enthusiast, with floral scents and citrus notes being some of his go-to flavours. Baking bread brings him comfort and takes him back to the time-honoured bakes his mum would whip up for him and his siblings on their birthdays. Dylan

Dylan, a 20 year old Buckinghamshire lad, has a thirst for travel and immersing himself in different cultures. He recently took a gap year travelling through Southeast Asia, sampling the local cuisine and making new friends at every turn. He’s a keen skateboarder and is intrigued by the construction of ’90s PCs and vintage cars. Inspired by his artistic mum, he’s always had a soft spot for painting and often adorns his t-shirts with Japanese-inspired characters and cartoons. Proud of his mixed heritage, his mother is Indian and his father is Japanese Belgian, Dylan enjoys playing around with sweet and spices in his baking. His presentation style is inspired by the stunning Japanese bakes he sampled during his travels and from following French patisserie chefs on social media. Georgie

Alongside a husband and three children at home in their Welsh farmhouse, Georgie has ten chickens, two ducks, two dogs and a cat. Gill

Gill can’t remember a time when she didn’t bake
(Image: Channel 4)

The senior category manager from Lancashire can’t recall a time when she didn’t bake as baking was very much a family activity growing up. Since her father passed away in 2015, Gill has used baking as a source of comfort and has put her skills to good use, raising money for Alzheimer’s charities in his memory. Pies, cakes and pastry, including her dad’s signature lemon meringue pie, were staples of her childhood, so her baking is very much traditional in style with a modern twist. Hazel

Jeff Jeff, originally from the Bronx, New York, relocated to the UK in 1979 with his English girlfriend, now wife, whom he met during her hitchhiking adventure across America. Since 1987, Jeff has called Yorkshire home, where he began baking seriously when his children were young, having learned the basics from his grandmother and Hungarian great-grandmother. The 67 year old is particularly renowned for his New York cheesecake. John

At the age of 37, he perfected his baking skills under the guidance of his nan, creating fairy cakes and pies. Now, he bakes to keep her memory alive and pass on the skills she taught him to his two young nephews. He’s a fan of traditional bakes with a unique twist, adding herbs and other flavours to make his creations stand out – his top pick, however, is a classic lemon tart. Mike
