Privacy NoticeJack Whitehall certainly had his work cut out for him when he stepped in to guest host the Graham Norton Show IN 2019. With Graham away gearing up for Eurovision 2019 in sunny Tel Aviv, Israel, Jack had to keep the BBC One chat show’s standard sky-high and according to fans, he delivered. The star-studded sofa boasted talents like Gwendoline Christie, Luke Evans, funnyman and author David Walliams, sports star Peter Crouch, and the musical guest of breakout artist at the time, Sam Fender. Fans were over the moon with Jack’s wit and charm, even hinting at a future where he might spearhead his own talk show, which he later did. One tweeted: “Campaign for a Jack Whitehall chat show starts here, that was so good I feel upset it was just a one off! #GrahamNorton ”, while another said: “ #GrahamNorton #bbc Jack Whitehall did an outstanding job tonight covering for Graham. It’s about time he had a regular slot for his own talk show.” A third chimed: “Jack Whitehall is smashing the Graham Norton show tonight. Seriously funny. Definitely should have his own late night talk show.” Presenter Alex Jones even praised the presenter by saying: “Good job @jackwhitehall,” with a hands clapping emoji.”

Jack took over the Graham Norton Show

Jack’s no stranger to the limelight, having secured heaps of love for hosting the Brit Awards not once, but twice, and making waves across the pond with movie gigs in Mother’s Day and The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, not to mention snagging parts alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Jungle Cruise and in the much-buzzed-about Amazon series Good Omens. One person who will always humble Jack is his father. He tweeted: “Sending out an apologetic tweet on behalf of the charming stand-in, it was clear that while Whitehall was smashing it, there’s truly no replacing @grahnort!” Graham’s show will be back on Friday night. With The Graham Norton Show, the star has cemented his place in the hearts of viewers across the country.

Graham Norton is back with a brand new series of his iconic chat show on BBC One

He first began his career at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, before earning himself a regular spot on BBC Radio 4 show, Loose Ends as a comedian and panelist in the early 1990s. He later went on to make his acting debut in Channel 4 comedy series Father Ted which ran between 1996 and 1998. In the show, he played the part of Father Noel Furlong, an energetic catholic priest that was often seen taking charge of the St Luke’s Youth Group – and that fans may recall started an infamous screeching contest on the show.

From 1998 onwards, Graham branched out into chat shows presenting, when he was given his own weekly show So Graham Norton until 2002, when he was instead given a daily weeknight show. His major break came in 2001 however, when the BBC asked him to host Comic Relief, which even soon paved the way to more TV presenting roles with the network.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
