Privacy Notice Charlotte Hawkins brought viewers up to speed on the dramatic exit of Jermaine Jenas from the BBC during Friday’s Good Morning Britain. Discussing his abrupt departure, she highlighted the lack of clarity surrounding the incident: “Now, we don’t know the exact circumstances of what’s gone on here. He has said there are two sides to every story and he will let his lawyers deal with it.” The situation sparked dialogue on the show about the BBC’s reaction, with Charlotte describing it as taking “swift and decisive action”. She noted: “But, there’s no doubt, is there, that the BBC have taken swift and decisive action on this one.” Ava Evans, a guest on the programme, shared her astonishment at how quickly things had escalated, considering Jenas was still on-air shortly before controversy hit: “The BBC has had to learn some really hard lessons from not taking decisive action over the last few years and I think that this is an example.” Adil Ray weighed in on the discussion, drawing parallels to past events involving Huw Edwards and pondering if the BBC has learned from them: “You do wonder, whether it is slightly learning from the Huw Edwards scenario. We don’t know the details of this, we don’t know whether we can compare the two.”

Kwasi Kwarteng, chiming in with his opinion, suggested that the BBC felt compelled to act promptly, likely due to criticisms of sluggishness in the past: “It was all a bit slow, that was the perception and I think now, they wanted to act quickly,” reports the Express. Jermaine has been dropped from his roles on Match of the Day and The One Show, as per Thursday night’s revelations. Reports suggest his contract was cut short due to allegations concerning digital communication in the workplace.

On a radio show, Jermaine expressed his discontent with the situation following the announcement of his BBC exit, stating: “I can’t really talk about it. As you can probably see, I’m not happy about it. But currently, as it stands I’m going to have to let the lawyers deal with it.” He continued, “There’s two sides… that’s all I can say now.” He concluded with, “I’m not happy about this situation. I’m going to be speaking to my lawyers about it, is all I can say right now.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
