Privacy NoticeKate Garraway has sparked worry among Good Morning Britain fans after her unexpected absence from the show, following reports that she’s been by her father’s side in hospital. Charlotte Hawkins and Rob Rinder were quick to step in on Friday (July 19), taking over presenting duties while Kate attended to family matters. The beloved presenter is understood to be keeping a close watch over her dad Gordon, who is believed to have had a stroke and heart attack. After Tuesday’s GMB wrapped up, Kate reportedly dashed off upon learning of her father’s collapse, making her way to Cornwall where he was found unconscious. According to a source speaking to The Sun: “Very sadly, Kate’s father collapsed earlier this week while staying, along with her mum and her brother in Cornwall.” The source continued, revealing the severity of the situation: “It was incredibly frightening as he was found unconscious and immediately taken to hospital. It seems likely that he’s had a stroke and possibly a heart attack as well – doctors are still doing tests.

Kate Garraway’s dad ‘rushed to hospital after suspected stroke’

“He remains in hospital and is currently stable but, understandably, it’s given the whole family a terrible scare and they are praying he can recover.” Concerned viewers took to social media to express their worries and support for Kate, with one commenting: “Guessing Kate’s off #GMB because of her dad… sending love.” This heartache follows closely on the heels of the loss of Kate’s husband Derek Draper, who tragically passed away after a prolonged battle with long Covid-19, leaving her and their children Darcey and Billy to cope with his absence.

Kate Garraway has opened up to her fans, revealing why she took a break from Good Morning Britain: “I look forward to waking up with you very soon again on Good Morning Britain to celebrate life in all its wonder and challenge again.” She explained the personal reason behind her absence with touching honesty: “I hope you forgive me for taking some time to be at home. My family is so grateful that we could be with our dearest Derek in his final moments, something not all get to share.” With heartfelt empathy, Kate reached out to others who might be suffering: “Maybe you too are going through grief yourself or have done in the past, I send love and support for you too. We are taking time to heal ourselves now that Darcey and Billy know their daddy is at peace and free from pain and struggle.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
