Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley were at the helm, delivering the day’s headline news. However, during Richard Arnold’s entertainment update, things took an unexpected turn, with a teaser about an exclusive chat with a “special guest.” The surprise guest turned out to be Mummy Pig from the beloved children’s series Peppa Pig, who called in live from Peppatown to share some big news. Amidst the excitement, even little Peppa made a cameo while Richard introduced his guest with great fanfare: “I’d like to welcome in her first ever interview someone we’re all very excited to meet. It’s Mummy Pig!”

Broadcasting to millions, Mummy Pig chimed in: “Gosh, hello, thank you for having me. I’ve never been on telly before.” An eager Richard asked: “We’ve been abuzz in the studio all morning because we hear you have an exciting announcement.” Mummy Pig was just about to spill the beans: “That’s right, I do! So, I’m very excited to tell you all that I…” when Peppa, unable to hide her joy at seeing her mum on TV, interrupted the big reveal. Mummy Pig, regaining her composure, excitedly announced: “Well, I’m excited to share that our family is getting even bigger because we’re having another baby! I’m due in the summer, and we’re all so excited.” She shared her joy about the family’s expansion, confessing she was “thrilled” but also a tad “little overwhelmed” at the thought of juggling three little piglets all under the age of five. The news couldn’t be kept under wraps for long, as Mummy Pig revealed: “We weren’t able to keep it a secret for long. Peppa knew something was going on, she’s such a curious thing. We had to tell her before she popped.” “We’ve had the occasional wobble and worry, but they’re mostly so excited. Everyday they ask me how big the baby is, when is it coming, does it like dinosaurs or muddy puddles – it never stops!” Mummy Pig added with a laugh.

Wrapping up the conversation, Richard warmly said: “Aw congratulations once again from all of us at Good Morning Britain, we’re so excited to meet the new little baby pig and see how Peppa and George get along.” However, the segment didn’t go down well with viewers, as many took to X (formerly Twitter ) to voice their bewilderment and annoyance. “Turning off… this programme is becoming a joke,” one viewer complained, while another questioned: “Wtf is the point of this cringeworthy Peppa pig interview?” “Am I tripping? Why are they interviewing Peppa Pig?” asked a baffled fan, and another commented: “This segment is bonkers.” One more viewer was left questioning reality: “Did I really just see Mummy Pig get interviewed about her pregnancy on #GMB or have I really lost it?” Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am
